After days of rain, the sun broke through last Sunday, creating perfect conditions for a Landmark West! tour of the far Westside. Guide Gil Tauber, loaded with historic tales and tidbits, took a capacity crowd along parts of the West End Avenue and Riverside Drive historic districts. We learned about a former ice rink at 95th/Broadway. We ahhh’d over West End Avenue’s glorious, cohesive cornice line (no sliver buildings or supertalls here, thank you!) and stopped at 780 WEA to marvel at the terracotta ornamentation on the façade (see above photo). Missed it? Come join us in April and May for other walks along the magnificent Upper West Side!
