The New York Times cost ten cents, and the lead headline read: U.S. is Reported Ready to Extend Pause in Combat: Officials Say No New Action Would Begin if Vietcong Agree to Continuation, which was a plan viewed as a “test.” In other news, Con Ed made a third appeal to conserve power, slowing the Queens IND trains (today’s E, F, M & R) and imposed a “five-hour citywide reduction in voltage–a move that could affect the efficiency of elevators and domestic appliances–to help meet demands.”
