Title: Three Times Three Interplay (sculpture)

Dates: 1971; Dedicated May 4, 1971

Medium: Stainless steel

Dimensions: H. 32 ft. (5 tons)

Description: The piece is composed of three movable stainless-steel tubes, shaped like zigzags, each projecting in a different direction.

Owner: Juilliard School, Broadway & 65th Street, New York, New York 10023

Remarks: The piece was given to Juilliard by Mr. and Mrs. George Jaffin on behalf of the American-Israel Cultural Foundation. Three Times Three Interplay was the first outdoor sculpture installed at the Juilliard School. Created with the performing arts school in mind, the three vertical branches of the sculpture are movable. Agam said of the work at its dedication that people could ‘perform’ the sculpture and “create new visual spaces, visually and sculpturally interpreting sequences of the work the way a musician plays a piece of music.”
