Description: Abstract piece made of flat steel plates bent into a cube, a cylinder, and a spike.
Owner: Heywood Towers, 175 West 90th Street, New York, New York
Remarks: This piece was purchased in 1975 by the Kreisler Borg Florman Construction Company of Scarsdale, New York, the builder of the Heywood Towers housing development. The work is one of many Trova created as part of his “Canto” series, which are all abstract constructions but reference figures and elements from nature. The word “canto” in the title, defined as a division in a long poem, emphasizes the fact that each sculpture is a further study in Trova’s ongoing exploration of the theme of falling figures.
