Remarks: Kozloff’s six colorful murals offer views, from different perspectives of the Upper West Side, including aerial views that were inspired by Central Park West as seen through Google Earth satellite technology to close-up micro details of design elements visible on the facades of the neighborhood’s Beaux-Arts and Art Deco buildings. One panel also includes a map of Seneca Village, a five-acre settlement founded in 1825 that was the first community predominantly made up of African-American landowners. The mosaic was translated from intricate paintings created by Kozloff.
