Title: Ignatius the Pilgrim (sculpture)

Inscription:“Ad Majorem Dei Glorium” – “For the Greater Glory of God” (on the side of the granite base)

Description: A figural cast bronze sculpture, depicting a man (St. Ignatius of Loyola) in mid-stride, with tattered, flowing robes, cinched at the waist with a tied rope. The figure’s gaze is upward, and a sword and shield behind him.

Located at the Entrance to the Gabelli School of Business Fordham University, Lincoln Center Campus, 140 W 62nd Street, New York, New York

Remarks: Commissioned by Jack and Janette Walton, the sculpture depicts St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Catholic Jesuit Order for the campus of Fordham University, which is one of twenty-eight Jesuit universities in the United States.  A twin of this sculpture is located on the Alpha House Lawn on Fordham’s main campus.
