In the movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Kevin McCaillster came running all the way to the Upper West Side to trap the Sticky Bandits (née Wet Bandits), Marv and Harry at his Uncle Rob’s house. However the house he arrived at is not actually in the Upper West Side, in fact it’s all the way across the country in a Hollywood movie lot. Check it out:
Brownstone Street is a lot in Universal Studios that replicates what New York City is supposed to feel like, it has been used in countless movies throughout the years. The set went through a fire in 1957, 1990 and 2008, luckily no one was injured during these fires.
Brownstone Street is frequently altered so it can fit the project it is used for. The builidings–like the Upper West Side are a mix of elements and varied styles. A few projects that featured Brownstone Street are; The Six Million Dollar Man (1974-1978), Annie (1982), Bruce Almighty (2003) and Gone Girl (2014). Uncle Rob’s house has been featured in all these productions whether it was obvious or not. People who visit Universal Studios can visit the lot through one of the tours they provide.
But don’t despair!
