Join Landmark West! and guide Gil Tauber for a history-filled amble along West End Avenue and upper Riverside Drive historic districts, with a swoop through the West 105th Street Historic District and a salute to several individual landmarks. What better introduction could there be to the beauty and bounties of Upper West Side architecture?
Our travels will take us from the quaint English-inspired “tudors” of Pomander Walk (thankfully saved with a Landmark designation in 1982) to the Art Deco stylings of the Masters Apartments and former Automat building. Along the way, we’ll pause to contemplate heart-touching monuments to firefighters and victims of the Titanic disaster. And we won’t stop until we’ve had a chance to marvel at the only free-standing single-family mansion in Manhattan!
