PUBLIC HEARING of the PRESERVATION COMMITTEE of Community Board 7
Thursday December 12th CB7 Office, 250 West 87th Street Hearing starts at 6:30pm
The Children’s Museum of Manhatta (CMOM) is applying for a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) for proposed changes to the former First Church of Christ, Scientist, a 120 year old individual landmark building. The first step in this process is to present their plan to the Preservation Committee of the local Community Board 7 on 12/12/2019 at 6:30pm.
CMOM’s design team proposes the following:
– removing all the original exterior wood doors
– removing the original granite steps
– removing all of the stained glass, not just glass with iconography
+ adding a roof deck
+ adding approximately two stories of mechanical equipment and changing the volume of the roof.

The public is invited to give 3-minute statements during a hearing on Thursday, December 12th, of the Community Board 7 Preservation Committee
This is a public meeting.
You will be allowed to speak on the record prior to CB7 Preservation Committee vote.
You will be allowed to speak on the record at the CB7 Full Board Meeting in January 2020 (date not yet set).
You will be allowed to speak on the record at the Landmarks Preservation Commission hearing, the date to be set later in 2020.
