New York City’s Department of City Planning, Manhattan division met with neighbors and LANDMARK WEST! this week to address mounting concerns over zoning abuses not only on the Upper West Side, but city-wide. Oft-voiced concerns pertain to unnecessary void spaces within new developments. There is a 161′ tall void (enough to fit a standard 16-story building into) planned for 36 West 66th Street. To address the problem, City Planning needs to review how the voids have been applied in developments in NYC. Luckily, they easily found over a dozen. These will be subject to a report expected by year’s end. THIS LINK leads to a draft of their presentation that they shared with us.
