Did you know that every bee you see hitting up flowers for their pollen and nectar is female? That bees fly miles a day to-and-fro’ing collecting for their hive? That they are most attracted to blue and purple flowers? Naturalist Leslie Day led an enthusiastic group in search of bees and other pollinators at the 91st Street garden last week, full of fascinating tales of the lives (short; only 6 weeks in summer) of our own UWS bees. Our minds buzzing, we will never look at a quivering, pollinator-laden patch of flowers the same way again. Go Bees!
